The Shakedown That Became a Case
Erika Shields thought the shakedown ended when she walked out of the cubicle.
According to Maxx Wolf, that was her first mistake.
What began as another destructive search inside the Florence, Colorado federal prison camp would, according to Wolf, become something far more serious: Sexual misconduct, two eyewitnesses, sworn affidavits, a PREA complaint, and years of questions that, in his view, were never publicly answered.
THE FOUR O'CLOCK STORM
The incident began during the four o'clock stand-up count.
Wolf's neighbor, TJ, was still getting off his bunk when Erika Shields arrived approximately twelve minutes late.
According to Wolf's recollection, Shields immediately focused on him.
"Don't you know what time count is? It's four o'clock every fucking day!"
Then she continued.
"I don't wait for you. You stand and wait for me. You're never going to make it on the fucking outside."
The count ended.
Her anger did not.
At approximately 5:30 that evening, Shields returned.
Wolf describes what happened next not as a legitimate search, but as a Category 5 hurricane.
She ordered TJ out of his cubicle.
"Get the fuck out now"
Then, according to Wolf, she began tearing through everything he owned.
She ripped photographs of his children and scattered them across the floor.
She threw his clothing into a pile.
She poured coffee and soda over it.
Wolf also alleges that Shields removed commissary items—including tuna, ramen, and drinks—and placed them into a bag.
The destruction did not stop there.
According to Wolf, Shields tore through six cubicles that evening, leaving clothing, food, photographs, papers, and personal belongings scattered behind her.
She stopped at Wolf's cubicle last.
THE SEXUAL ASSAULT
According to Wolf, Shields ordered him against the wall.
"What the fuck are you looking at? Is that a cell phone in your pocket? Up against the wall now, Wolf. "
She claimed he possessed a cellular phone.
She reached into his pockets.
Then the search crossed a line.
Shields grabbed his genitals and began moving her hand in a sexual manner.
At that moment, two inmates entered the area.
They stopped.
They saw what was happening.
Shields did not appear embarrassed or startled.
She turned toward them and screamed:
"What the fuck are you two pieces of dog shit looking at? Get the fuck out."
The two men immediately left.
Wolf says Shields then pulled away, regained her composure, and calmly told him:
"Now, you be a good Wolf and tell your neighbor TJ, I went through six cells today. And I may be back later tonight."
For Erika Shields, the encounter may have been over.
For Maxx Wolf, it had just become a case.
To be continued...
